Sedan / hatchback
Budget tier
$35,000 – $55,000

Who it's for

Daily-driver sedan buyers who want the best EV charging experience and don't need the cargo of a Model Y. Especially good for commuter-focused buyers without family-hauler needs.

What works

  • · Lowest cost of entry into the Tesla ecosystem with full Supercharger access
  • · Sedan body style is more aerodynamic — best highway range per dollar in Tesla's lineup
  • · Smaller footprint than Model Y — easier to park in dense urban environments
  • · The same software, OTA updates, and ecosystem as the more expensive Tesla models

What doesn't

  • · Cabin storage and rear-seat headroom are tight compared to Model Y or comparable competitors
  • · No yoke steering wheel option on the 2026 refresh (Tesla quietly killed the yoke for Model 3)
  • · Ride quality is firmer than Model Y — even more pronounced
  • · Sedan demand is structurally lower than SUV demand in the US, which hurts resale slightly

Context

The 'Highland' refresh (2024+) significantly improved the interior with better materials, sound deadening, and a rear passenger screen. Long Range AWD remains the smart-money trim. The Performance variant is genuinely fast (3.1s 0-60) but the standard Long Range is plenty quick for most use cases. The base RWD model lost the federal credit penalty when the credit ended; manufacturer discounts now restore most of the savings.
