Buyers who want to make a statement and don't care that the statement is polarizing. Best for tech-industry early adopters, the Tesla brand-loyal, and people who genuinely value the stainless-steel exoskeleton durability angle.

What works

  • · Bi-directional power output (Powershare) matches F-150 Lightning's house-backup capability
  • · Full Tesla Supercharger access (with full-power V4 stations) — fastest charging in the truck segment
  • · Drive Mode flexibility (off-road modes, towing modes) actually work well in real use

What doesn't

  • · Polarizing styling that some people genuinely hate — affects resale value and social experience of ownership
  • · Build quality issues continue to be reported (panel gaps, frunk closure, drivetrain noise) more than other Teslas
  • · Towing range hit is similar to other electric trucks — 50% range loss with a serious trailer

Context

Has been in production for over a year now (delivered late 2023 onward). The Foundation Series trims are sold out; current orders are Cyberbeast (tri-motor performance) or Dual Motor (the value play). All-Wheel Drive single-motor variant promised but not yet delivered. The Cybertruck buyer base has skewed more toward 'Tesla enthusiast collector' than 'truck buyer who needs a truck' — that pattern may shift as the truck establishes itself or may not.
