  • · Heat pump standard on Long Range trim — winter range loss is meaningfully less than Tesla's

What doesn't

  • · Highway efficiency is decent but not class-leading — Tesla still wins per-kWh-per-mile at sustained highway speeds
  • · Software still lags Tesla — the UI is fine but OTA updates rarely add features the way Tesla's do
  • · Hyundai dealer service experience varies wildly by location — some are excellent, some have no EV expertise
  • · The first-year (2022) production had a 12V battery issue that bricked some cars — verify the recall is closed on used examples

Context

Part of the E-GMP platform shared with Kia EV6, Genesis Electrified GV70, and now the Ioniq 9 (built at the Georgia Metaplant). The Limited trim with the dual-motor AWD is the sweet-spot configuration. The retro-futurist styling has aged well and continues to draw compliments years after launch. Hyundai's transition to the Georgia Metaplant for production means service and parts support has improved meaningfully for US buyers in 2026.
